2009 Day of Action
From coast-to-coast on June 21, the longest day of the year, United Ways across the country will participate in a nationwide 'Day of Action' as a call-to-action for individuals to "Live United" - to Give, Advocate and Volunteer on issues relating to education, income or health.
In Johnson County, our United Way Day of Action will accomplish this in three ways:
GIVE: We’ll be hosting a canned food drive for the Johnson County Crisis Center on the day of the event. Priority items include: canned meat, peanut butter and baby formula.
ADVOCATE: Prior to launching our volunteers into the community for an afternoon of service, United Way of Johnson County will be hosting a 2008 Flood Volunteer Recognition Ceremony in honor of the selfless dedication and support displayed by the many community volunteers during last summer’s flood.
VOLUNTEER: Immediately following the ceremony, volunteers will disburse to their pre-assigned service locations for an afternoon of community volunteerism. Volunteers must register as an individual or a group in advance. See our online registration form below!
