We encourage people to make unrestricted gifts to the community fund because those gifts have the greatest impact on our community as a whole. Gifts to the community fund allow the volunteers on the Citizen Review Panel to direct funding to the areas of greatest need. However, we do respect the wishes of our donors who choose to earmark their gift or a portion of their gift to a particular area of focus, a specific non-profit agency, county, or another United Way. We also give donors the option of excluding a United Way of Johnson County affiliated agency from receiving any part of their gift by indicating that preference on their pledge form.
When you make a gift to United Way of Johnson
County, you are making an investment in the health, safety,
and well being of our community. Thanks to you, our friends,
family members, and neighbors will be able to get the help they
need when they need it. Giving to United Way is a way of showing
your commitment to strengthening our community.
Because of United Way’s relationships with
local health and human service agencies, government entities,
community leaders, donors, and service groups, United Way of
Johnson County can focus on the “big-picture” in
the community and concentrate resources where those needs are
greatest.
United Way of Johnson County provides management
support and assistance to affiliated health and human service
agencies. This helps ensure that your contributions are being
used efficiently and effectively. Your gift is like an investment
in an “insurance policy” that you may need if your
house burns down, or a loved one struggles with a terminal illness,
or you are suddenly laid-off from work. The reality is that
any one of us, our friends, or our family members can experience
an emergency or unexpected crisis and need help. Your gift to
United Way helps provide services that are meant to help you
and your family in a time of need.
