The Arc of Southeast Iowa serves individuals with disabilities and their families by providing services such as Individual and Group Respite Care, Supported Community Living, Supported Employment, Consumer Directed Attendant Care, Intermittent Medical Monitoring and Treatment and advocacy services. Provides suicide intervention and prevention, emergency counseling, and information and referrals by trained volunteers. Administers food bank program, clothing and utility assistance funds, and emergency transportation assistance to non-local persons.  Identifies and meets the needs of older adults in Johnson County who are trying to remain in their homes through providing information about services available, making referrals, and providing outreach.  Provides chore and companionship services, care management services, and assistance to older adults at risk of neglect or abuse. Provides support and counseling to caregivers.  Works to support people with memory loss.  Provides nutritious meals to seniors through the congregate meal program and meals on wheels ( 356-5212).  The RSVP Program matches volunteers over the age of 55 with opportunities in the community and connects "People to Purpose" to work with children, frail elders, and non-profit organizations.   Website

 Provides emergency shelter and long-term residential care for emotionally disturbed adolescents.  Also provides in-home family-centered, mental health therapy and counseling, foster care, adoption, and after school services to children, young adults, and families. Supervised Community Treatment is provided for at-risk youth.  Other programs include:  Cornerstone (outreach program for single parents on welfare that is designed to help families become self-sufficient), Project Safe Place (a network of sites for young people needing assistance to resolve difficult, threatening situations), and Iowa Aftercare Services Network (helping former foster care recipients transition into adulthood).   Website
 
Free Lunch Program

Provides noon meals, free of charge, six days a week to anyone in need. A self-serve breakfast of coffee and toast is offered in the mornings starting at 9:00 a.m., and lunch is served Monday through Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. Meals are served in the basement of the Wesley Center by 37 different volunteer groups.   Website

RVAP provides a 24-hour Rape Crisis Line (335-6000 or 1-800-228-1625) and the Iowa Sexual Abuse Hotline (1-800-284-7821. Sexual assault advocates provide medical, legal, court, and systems advocacy, counseling, support groups, and other direct services to victim/survivors of sexual abuse and their partners, friends, and family members. Operates a Youth Center located at 355 Iowa Avenue, downtown Iowa City, that is open Monday through Saturday.  The Youth Center includes a recording studio, art studio, art gallery, performance space, and offices for street outreach.  It also houses the Rotary Center for Youth Volunteers and a state-wide Teenline peer helper phone service.  UAY offers counseling and youth development programs to teens and families in Iowa City and surrounding communities in Iowa .
