Coralville, IA – The Volunteer Center of Johnson County is asking for volunteers for the Iowa to Haiti Medical Shipment Project to provide assistance TODAY, Saturday, February 6. Volunteers are needed beginning at 4 p.m. today and will be needed until midnight tonight.

As you know, on the evening of January 12, 2010, a major earthquake, 7.0 magnitude, hit Haiti. The loss is astounding and even hits home. I'm sad to tell you that our new executive director at United Way Brasil, Rogerio Arns, lost his mother in the earthquake. She was a pediatrician who was part of a humanitarian effort in Haiti.
